This stone is a killer! I'm beginning to have a small collection of quality Japanese stones (Suehiro, Naniwa and Shapton, from #220 to #5000) and as time goes by I realize that this one is my favorite (with the naniwa pro #800)! It's very fast and efficient, doesn't clog up much, gives good feedback and is surprisingly soft for a #500... And frankly, when you know how to use it, you'll be able to get crazy sharp edges on your kitchen knives... With this stone, you can quickly sharpen very dull knives... and after a few deburring passes and a careful stropping on the leather, they will go through a sheet of newspaper with almost no noise. Frankly, I wonder why I have other stones ^^ This Shapton #500 is incredibly underrated. It's one of the best stones on the market. Its only drawback is its thinness... but it doesn't wear out quickly and if, like me, you're lucky enough to buy it for €29.90 on special offer, then it becomes excellent value for money!
